I have always been interested in the arts - music, photography etc. I grew up listening to music, dancing and singing while no one was watching or listening. I would come home from school, turn on the overhead speakers and dance, sing and practice gymnastics in the basement until my parents came home from work.
When I was young, my mother took me to a not-so-average doctor. He was of middle eastern descent. I remember him clearly, checking my pulse, eyes, ears, nose, throat, tongue, nails, hands, feet and abdomen every time I would visit. He was very thorough, and I have not experienced this ever again in my adult life.
I graduated high school with absolutely no idea what I was going to do with my life. I went to a community college for about a year and it was not for me at the time. After that, I started working for a well known global company. Though I enjoyed it, I felt that something was missing. A friend left a newspaper on my chair one morning after I had experienced pain relief from energy work (not knowing what it was at the time). The front page showed a person with a terminal illness receiving ancient therapies such as Reiki, massage, acupuncture and moxibustion. In that moment, I decided that I wanted to go to school for Massage Therapy. The search began...and then...
I fell about 20 feet into a sea of rocks and fractured my jaw. It was immobile for about 8 weeks. I lived on smoothies and worked as a receptionist with a broken face. Luckily, the company was remodeling the entryway so I was moved to the back by the employee entrance for several months!
One morning, I woke up and could not move my neck. I had not received any care after fracturing my jaw, except a consult with a surgeon who wanted to wire my jaw shut. Being 19 years old at the time, I had no interest in doing that. I ended up going to see a chiropractor for the very first time. My muscles were in such a spastic state that I couldn't even get an adjustment. The chiropractor gave me a natural muscle relaxer and I came back a couple of days later for the adjustment.
With the combination of chiropractic care, massage, intentional energywork and positive visualization, my jaw healed quite nicely. Occasionally I will get headaches or a stiff neck/jaw, but these aches and pains can be managed with proper nutrition, stress reduction, hydration, chiropractic care, and body/energywork.
Over the years as a Massage Therapist, I have worked in chiropractic offices and other clinical settings, spas, corporate offices and with groups of other LMT's. I love helping others feel better. Being an inspiration to your health and well-being is what I strive to do. I look forward to working with you.
With love and light,
Christy
